Originally from Greensboro, Alex earned his J.D. in 2009 from the University of North Carolina School Of Law, after receiving a B.S. in Business Administration, cum laude, and a B.A. in Spanish, cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2005. While in law school, Alex served as a Staff Member and as an Article and Notes Editor for the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal. In 2008, Alex’s article entitled Other People's Money:  How a Time-Gap in Credit Reporting May Lead to Fraud was published by the North Carolina Banking Journal. Alex clerked for the Honorable Wallace Dixon, United States District Court Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina, during the Spring term of 2009.

Upon graduating from UNC School of Law, Alex moved to Charlotte to join James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A. Alex is licensed to practice law in the North Carolina state courts as well as the federal court for the Western District of North Carolina. He is a member of the Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and American bar associations.

Alex has also lived in Milan, Italy, where he taught business English and English to corporations, small classes, and individuals. He is conversational in Italian and fluent in Spanish.
