Catherine A. Barnes
Practice Focus—Corporate Law and Commercial Real Estate
Catherine received her B.A. in history from Salem State College in Massachusetts before going on to receive her J.D. in 1995 from the University of North Carolina Law School. At James, McElroy and Diehl some of her recent matters have included ongoing counseling and representation of several real estate developers, including title, environmental and zoning issues, creation of restrictive covenants, condominium offering documents, commercial leases and development agreements and negotiation with lenders. Other activity has included general corporate representation of closely held businesses in many industries, including formation, continuation planning, review and negotiation of contracts and leases, counseling with regard to employment matters, shareholder issues, covenants not to compete, business ventures, representation during sale and acquisition of assets or stock and a variety of other issues. Catherine is a member of the Mecklenburg County and North Carolina Bar Associations. She is married with two young children.
