Fred B. Monroe
Practice Focus—Employment and Complex Commercial Disputes

Fred has had a wide range of experience as a civil trial lawyer. He focuses his practice on representing individuals and businesses involved in employment and complex commercial disputes. He has an active trial practice in both state and federal courts and routinely counsels clients on business litigation issues. He has significant experience in prosecuting and defending claims in trials before judges and juries. He is admitted to practice law in state court, all federal district courts in North Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He has appeared pro hac vice in other jurisdictions and is licensed to practice law in Georgia. In addition, he represents clients having disputes in the investment brokerage and employment fields in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and has given continuing legal education lectures to other lawyers in that practice area. Fred has also represented individuals who have suffered severe personal injury or are involved in significant estate disputes.

Fred hails from the eastern part of the state with roots in the Moore and Montgomery County area. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1991 as an English major. He subsequently attended Mercer Law School, graduating in 1996, where he was a member of the Mercer Law Review. He then clerked at the North Carolina Court of Appeals for the Honorable Gerald Arnold, Chief Judge. Fred is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. As a partner in the firm, Fred serves as a member of the recruiting committee.

He is active in the Charlotte community.  He recently completed a six year term as an appointed member of the Storm Water Advisory Committee for the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.  He is married and has two toddler-aged children.  When he has spare time, he enjoys almost all outdoor sports including fishing, hunting, and boating.
