Mickey Aberman
Practice Focus—Business and Transactional Law, Technology and Commercial Litigation

Mickey grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He studied philosophy and finance at the University of Virginia and Edinburgh University. He subsequently earned the “Outstanding M.B.A. Student” award from the University of South Carolina, obtaining a degree in 1983, while also attending the University of Virginia Law School, from which he graduated in 1984. He became licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina in 1984.

Mickey is the author of “Partnerships and Joint Ventures” for the South Carolina Jurisprudence series published by the South Carolina Bar and West Publishing. He has taught seminars on drafting non-competition agreements and on the law relating to investment brokerage relationships. His practice consists primarily of counseling clients on business matters and negotiating and structuring business transactions. He has extensive experience in legal issues that arise in creation and transfer of computer software and other intangible technology and with transactions involving complex finance and tax issues. Approximately fifteen percent of his time is spent dealing with business litigation, usually with one of the firm’s trial lawyers.

Mickey has served for ten years as a board member and officer of Temple Beth El and as an officer and board member of various other organizations. He is married to Linda MacDonald and has three school-age children. He has been an active parent in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools. A licensed private pilot, he enjoys golf and playing with his children.
