Richard B. Fennell
Practice Focus—Construction Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Securities Litigation

Rich graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1986 with a degree in Political Science and Peace, War and Defense. He received his law degree from Chapel Hill in 1990. He clerked for a year with the North Carolina Court of Appeals before coming to James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A. He has tried a large number of cases to verdict in a variety of areas, including criminal, personal injury, construction, unfair and deceptive trade practices, shareholder and partnership disputes, insurance and contract matters. His practice over the last ten years has focused on complex commercial litigation, construction litigation and securities litigation. Rich was named to the “North Carolina Super Lawyers for 2006,” published by Law & Politics and Charlotte Magazine in the areas of Business Litigation and Construction Litigation. He is currently a member of the North Carolina Bar Association Council for Antitrust and Trade Regulation Matters, and is licensed in both North and South Carolina. He has appeared in federal and state courts in both jurisdictions, has argued before the North and South Carolina Courts of Appeal, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. His favorite community activities include coaching baseball with Myers Park Trinity Little League, where he also serves on the Board of Directors, and working as a supervisor of volunteers in the Loaves and Fishes warehouse.
