Practice Focus: Domestic relations law

Russ received his B.S. in business administration in 1981 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D. from Campbell University School of Law in 1984.

Russ’ practice is almost exclusively family law with an emphasis on complex equitable distribution litigation. He was counsel of record along with William K. Diehl, Jr. in the Smith vs. Smith equitable distribution trial, which was the largest equitable distribution trial in North Carolina history. Russ has also been lead counsel in multiple complex equitable distribution cases involving valuation of closely held business interests.

Russ is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and its Family Law Section, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers and its Family Law Section and the American Bar Association.
