Bob was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1970 with a degree in English, he spent the next six years touring the world with the Army, leaving service as a captain. He attended law school at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, where he served on the law journal and graduated with honors. He now serves on the North Carolina Credit Union Commission and the North Carolina Bar Association Real Property Section Council. He has served as president of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte

Bob is married and has two adult children. His interests include reading, hiking and travel.
