Alex Heroy And Amanda Wright Among Civil Rights Attorneys To Push CMPD Policy Changes Protecting Protestors From Police Violence
JMD Attorneys, Alex Heroy and Amanda Wright, joined forces with prominent non-profits including the ACLU of NC, NAACP, Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, and local attorneys in the fight to protect the public’s constitutional right to protest. Some of the settlement terms and changes in CMPD policy include a ban on the use of CS tear gas during protests, a ban on firing pepper balls at the necks and heads of demonstrators, and require police to give protesters time to disperse with two unobstructed routes of egress.
