Max Ruocco joined James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A., in 2020. His practice is primarily focused on general civil litigation and criminal law and investigations.

Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, Max is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. He earned his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of The George Washington International Law Review. Max also received a Pro Bono Recognition Award for providing over 100 hours of pro bono legal services during law school.

While in law school, Max interned for the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia; the Department of Justice, Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Section; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His involvement with these federal agencies allowed him to work on top-secret matters and gain valuable experience in all phases of litigation. Prior to joining James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A., Max clerked with the Superior Court of New Jersey for the Honorable Kevin M. Shanahan, P.J.Cv., handling various civil and criminal matters.

Outside of his legal work, Max enjoys spending time with his family, exploring all things Charlotte with his girlfriend and their two dogs, and cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Carolina Panthers.
