JMD Business Attorney Mickey Aberman and his VisArt Video Store Featured on WFAE
February 20, 2020 (Charlotte, N.C.)—James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A. (JMD) Business and Corporate Attorney Mickey Aberman was recently featured by WFAE Reporter Nick de la Canal in his story “Viva VisArt! Charlotte’s Last Video Rental Store Lives On As Nonprofit.”
The story covers how Mickey came to buy VisArt, an independent video store, the store moving from Elizabeth in 2015 to its current location in Eastway Plaza, and later in the fall of 2018, starting the process of becoming a nonprofit. The 501(c)(3) status was approved by the IRS in January 2020. For more, please visit this link to the full WFAE story.
One of the last of its kind, VisArt is a unique, go-to spot for experiencing film. With more than 40,000 titles available to rent, the store provides public access to perhaps the largest film and video collections on the East Coast. Working closely with the Charlotte Film Society, VisArt also provides a center for people who are local area film-makers and people who want to learn about film.
