JMD Family Law Practice Grows with Addition of Bree Laughrun
October 25, 2019 (Charlotte, N.C.)—James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A. (JMD) is pleased to announce that family law attorney Bree Laughrun has joined the firm. With 20 attorneys, JMD’s family law group is well-known for its skillful handling of emotionally challenging, legally complex issues – and for representation that delivers the best possible outcomes for clients.
Bree has more than 10 years of experience and she dedicates her practice to family law and divorce proceedings, including alimony, appeals, child custody, child support, contempt motions, domestic violence protective orders, equitable distribution, name change, post-separation support, premarital agreements, qualified domestic relations orders, separation agreements and step-parent adoptions.
Bree has been recognized for the past three years by Super Lawyers and named a “Rising Star” in Family Law in North Carolina. In addition, she was honored in 2019 and 2015 as a Legal Elite Young Gun by Business North Carolina.
Regularly involved in cultural and charitable activities in the Charlotte community, Bree is a member of the Mint Museum Auxiliary and a former member of the Verdi Society of Opera Carolina. She also volunteers for Dress for Success and is a Custody Advocacy Program Volunteer for the Council for Children’s Rights.
Bree graduated cum laude with a certificate of concentration in Family Law from T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. A Charlotte native, she returned to her hometown after law school and accepted a position with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office. During this time, Bree dedicated her practice to defending the rights of those individuals unable to afford counsel, giving a voice to the often overlooked and ignored.
