JMD Welcomes New Associates Madeline “Maddie” Labovitz and Elizabeth Oblachinski to the Family Law Team

Maddie received her Juris Doctor from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in law school, Maddie explored many different areas of the law through internships with environmental law organizations, a research assistant position for the school’s Politics and Prosecutors Project, and participation in the school’s Consumer Financial Transactions Clinic. She also spent a semester externing with Justice Ervin on the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Elizabeth studied Government and Arabic at Georgetown University, where she grew her passion for languages and foreign policy. She then returned to her home state of North Carolina where she received her Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Elizabeth was a member of the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal and published an article on the General Data Protection Regulation and United States financial system. Further, she was highly involved in Holderness Moot Court, both as an executive member of the organization and a two-year regional finalist on the Client Counseling Team. Elizabeth also has experience working as corporate counsel through her work as a Research Assistant and Law Clerk for Brighthouse Financial.

Both Maddie and Elizabeth will focus their practice on family law, including issues related to divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, and domestic violence.
