Katie Holliday selected for Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award
Katie Holliday has been selected to receive the 2015 Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award from Legal Aid of North Carolina-Charlotte, Council for Children’s Rights and Legal Services of Southern Piedmont. This award has been described as a lifetime achievement award and recognizes Katie’s long and distinguished service in pro bono legal representation and advocacy for children’s rights. Katie was instrumental in founding the Children’s Law Center in Charlotte (later merged into the Council for Children’s Rights), where she served as Executive Director for ten years. Katie was one of the founders of the Juvenile Justice and Children’s Rights Section of the NC Bar Association, and served as the first chair of the section. Katie continues her involvement in the area of advocacy for children’s rights as legal counsel to the National Association of Counsel for Children, after having served as board member and board chair of that organization.
