Women’s Impact Fund Names JMD Law Partner Claire J. Samuels to Board of Directors

June 17, 2019 (Charlotte, N.C.)—Claire J. Samuels, a family law partner at James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A., has been elected to the 2019-2020 Board of Directors of Women’s Impact Fund (WIF) and will serve as the Chair of the Events and Logistics Committee. As Chair of the Events and Logistics Committee, Claire will oversee the planning and execution of the organization’s three signature events; Social Hour for Social Issues, Women & Wisdom and the Annual Meeting.

“I am honored and thrilled to be able to serve and work alongside some of the most incredible women in this city, women who are dedicated to pooling their resources and making a lasting impact in our community,” said Claire. “Joining this organization was one of the best decisions I’ve made since I moved to Charlotte 12 years ago. My involvement with WIF has truly made this city my home. I treasure the friendships I’ve formed through WIF and I am so proud of the work we have done and what we will continue to do together.”

WIF is a women’s collective giving philanthropic organization that serves the Charlotte Mecklenburg region. In 2019, WIF granted $421,000 to six outstanding organizations. Since 2003, WIF has invested nearly $5.9 million in 76 different programs across Mecklenburg County.

Claire has practiced family law for more than 12 years. Her practice encompasses premarital agreements, separation agreements, equitable distribution, spousal support, child support, child custody, alienation of affection and criminal conversation.

“After litigating high-conflict cases for over 12 years, I have seen just how destructive a divorce can be for everyone involved,” said Claire. “With that in mind, I work very hard to help my clients resolve their disputes as peacefully, respectfully and efficiently as possible so they can move on with their lives and parent healthy, well-adjusted children.”

Claire’s passion for helping others goes beyond her law practice. Over the years, she has worked with numerous non-profit organizations in our community. In addition to her board position with WIF, Claire currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage, the Board of Directors for the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation, and the Charlotte Community Leadership Council for the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina. She is also a member of Good Friends Charlotte.
